Intro to Dan (and Tessa)

So, who am I, you may be wondering?

Well, beyond being a lover of all games (in their many shapes and sizes, tabletop and beyond), I can also be found growing mushrooms, paddling around in canoes, and messing around making fancy cocktails. To pay rent, I work in clean energy but right now I am between jobs as my wife and I are moving from New York (where we have lived for the last three years) to the UK, my home. My initial hope was to get Gardens of Alcinous close to publication before the move, but clearly this was fanciful – publishing a game is a longer project!

Here’s a couple of photos to build a better picture:

I am also only half of the Gardens of Alcinous team. The other half (the more valuable half!) is my amazing wife Tessa. Not only is she an amazing sounding board and a great play tester, she is also the technical brains behind the operation. Only thanks to Tessa and her 3D printing skills do I have anything beyond the most rudimentary game prototype. She can also be credited with anything on my Instagram feed which could be described as aesthetic. Here’s a snap of Tessa doing her thing and making cool stuff:

And here’s one of us dressed as Frodo and a Nazgûl for Halloween:

I will leave it there for now, but stay tuned for further updates! I hope to publish a couple of additional blog posts soon covering the journey so far, my game design philosophy, and the journey to come. If you’re interested in coming along for the ride, it would mean the world to me if you hop onto the mailing list :)
